Professionally Applied Topical Fluoride (PATF)

Post-Care Instructions

The varnish should remain on the teeth for 4-6 hours; During this time period:
o Do not brush or floss teeth,
o Avoid hot beverages, alcoholic drinks and products
o Do not use other products containing fluoride
o Avoid smoking
o Avoid chewing gum
o Eat soft foods

“For 4-6 hours avoid: hot beverages, alcoholic drinks, fluoride-containing products, smoking, chewing gum, and soft foods, brushing, and flossing”

 The use of prescription fluoride products should be interrupted for 2-3 days after the varnish
treatment
 A thorough brushing and flossing will remove any remaining traces of varnish
